Facebook Introduces 360-Degree Videos

Facebook is diving into the creation of an immersive News Feed by adding support for iOS and Gear VR headsets and some consumer 360-degree cameras.

Unlike regular videos, 360-degree videos require specialized cameras that are able to capture a full view of the surrounding scene. Users are able to change the view of the videos by holding their smartphones at different angles or by dragging their fingers around the frame.

Although not exactly the same as virtual reality, 360-degree video offers a much more immersive experience and could be seen a first step toward a bigger virtual reality push from Facebook.

1) Do you think 360-degree video and, by extension, VR/AR technology will catch on?
2) How do you think these technologies can potentially change the way we interact with media?
