According to Business Insider, Facebook is diving deeper in the news business with its new real-time news app called “Notify”. This app allows Facebook users to allocate notifications from various publishers, which referred to as “stations”, on specific types of news feed and receive notifications whenever their subscriptions release a new story throughout the day, thus eliminating the need to check various apps.
Notify is expected to be launched by the end of October. This app may motivate the users to read more articles from which they received. Although there are already some news apps run by larger publications, most of them are barely used and do not have strong user base as Facebook. Notify will definitely be an opportunity for both Facebook and those related news sites.
Last week Twitter launched a new feature called Moments, allowing users to repackage tweets into different categories. A new battle between Facebook and Twitter is coming soon.
·Since it is a separate app from its own platform, do you think the app will be successful without taking direct advantage of Facebook’s social traction?
·Will Facebook Notify be the killer of Twitter Moments?
