The article changes the way we see social media as a whole. We take for granted that since social media started at the US, the center of any innovation in social media must be located here. However the article explains that the center of all the new things that happen, the main source of revenue and the part of the market that is growing rapidly, is located outside of the US The brands can be potentially global, and most companies are targeting exactly that. For that reason the strategies of the companies are being adjusted to accomodate demands and audiences that are outside of the US and of course that has an impact on what we believe of the strategies and the results of those strategies.
