“Who’s Got the Mighty Wings?”- McDonald’s Runs Storyline Across Platforms

In an article published on Adweek.com titled, ” McDonald’s Narrative Runs Across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube”: http://www.adweek.com/news/technology/mcdonalds-narrative-runs-across-facebook-twitter-instagram-youtube-152617,” writer Christopher Heine discusses McDonald’s new social media storyline.  Unlike other fast-food companies, McDonald’s has found a way to engage consumers using this new #MightyWings campaign.  Though it is proving successful across multiple platforms, I wonder if McDonald’s #MightyWings effort is deterring less enthusiastic McDonald’s football fans away from the brand.  Should McDonald’s consider this and build another storyline or continue the character banter with #MightyWings?

  1. McDonald’s shouldn’t build another storyline, because that would be diluting their efforts and spreading themselves too thin. The timing is perfect for the campaign, because it’s the start of the NFL season and fans are excited. I’m sure they are targeting their spots and social media content to NFL fans to maximize the campaign and so it won’t deter people who aren’t fans of football.
